Happy Hump Day!

Man, I don't know about you guys, but I feel like this week has just been dragging on. Maybe it's because I'm still recovering from getting sick after vacation; or maybe it's because I'm actually on my own at work this week. Either way, I know I am ready for this weekend. I have some very exciting things coming up and I'm ready to start celebrating them!

I think this Friday will be my favorite part of the weekend though. I probably haven't mentioned this, but I have a third cousin who is very musically gifted. He has been playing at places around Tulsa for some time now. His name is Jason, and he has been doing all kinds of things to get his music out there, and he just recorded his first EP! Friday night is his CD release party at the Historic Cain's Ballroom here in Tulsa, and I couldn't be more excited, happy, and proud of him for accomplishing his dreams. Feel free to buy his EP, The Unicorn EPisode. It's available on iTunes [HERE] and it's also available on amazon [HERE]. Yep, I'm totally spamming my cousin. I think it's wonderful, but I KNOW I'm biased. And I'm okay with that.

Now for some goodies to help me (us) get over my (our) Wednesday woes. It's hump day people, we're on the downhill side to the weekend!

Here's to Thursday and hoping the weekend is as awesome as it's building itself up to be!

Tuesday Tunes

Recently, I discovered the band called The Black Keys. I know they've been around for a while, and I'm sure I'm probably one of the last people on this earth to discover how amazing they are, but I'm seriously obsessed. Their recent single "Lonely Boy" is the song that started my obsession. But I'm not sharing Lonely Boy with you today. No, I found a song of theirs that I like even better and that is what I'm sharing with you today.

Today I give you my current The Black Keys obsession, and it's Howlin' For You:

Do you like The Black Keys? What are some of your favorite songs by them? I always love new music and would love to hear what you like from The Black Keys!

Tuesday Tunes

If you have been following this blog for a while, you know that I used to have a feature called Tell the World Tuesday. However, it's been roughly 6 months since I've featured anyone, and I love Tuesdays. So today, I bring you something fun that may appear every now and then on a Tuesday. I've seen this around before, but I never participated because of my feature.

My first Tuesday Tunes is going to feature ONE song. Now that I don't have papers to write, tests to study for, and parties to go to (as often) because I'm a semi-adult now, I watch TONS of TV. No seriously. Probably too much for my own good. I have a serious relationship with my DVR. Anyways, I watch a show on the CW called Hart of Dixie, and this song rolled in the final credits of the last episode. AND. I. FELL. IN. LOVE.

I give you Ho! Hey! by The Lumineers:

fantastic music and a little soul cleansing

Music always gets me. I'll be watching one of my favorite shows and a song will start playing that so beautiful that I instantly go download the song to put on repeat. I'll be on my way home from work, and my favorite song of the moment will come on and I can't help but sing it at the top of my lungs because it's more than I'll ever be able to say and it's exactly how I feel at the same time.

I slightly mentioned in my post last night that I went through totes and totes and totes on Saturday afternoon. I never realized how much I needed to go through all of my stuff to just kind of clean everything out. I'm getting rid of a bunch of things that I would have been super upset over throwing away years ago. It was refreshing to be able to rid myself of things that I haven't even thought about in 5+ years.

Getting rid of possessions is making me want to clean up the other parts of my life. I yearn so desperately to get back into the habit of jogging/running on an almost daily basis. It kills me to know that this time last year, I was in the last month of preparation before my big race, an now I don't even think I could run a 5K.

I've got to start somewhere, I just don't know where, how, or when. But a change is coming soon.
