Day two of Staycation

I really do wish that instead of having a little mini staycation, I were in North Carolina watching my oldest brother graduate from AIT. However, being a responsible adult now and having bills to pay, I had to make the decision to stay home and welcome him as soon as he lands at the airport.

This guy:
When we were told to pose for a picture, this is how we posed. We're slightly the same person.

will be returning home at 9:50 tonight!

You have no idea how very excited the entire family is to see him again! He left for boot camp on June 7, and I haven't seen him since then. I wrote him all throughout boot camp, and thank goodness for us upgrading our phones and amazing technology because since boot camp I have gotten to carry on conversations with him through HeyTell. (android app; iPhone app) Also because of this app, he and I carried on a walkie-talkie style conversation one evening, and we both turned on our gps locations (you can pick and choose who sees this) and he could see exactly where mom and I were having dinner one night.

Now I am far behind almost everyone else when it comes to technology, but I'm so glad that I was introduced to this little app before I upgraded to a smart phone :)

As far as the home front goes, yesterday the Tulsa area got a cold front. It was also kind of rainy all day, so it was a fantastic day for my staycation. I went to lunch with my friend Kellie before she left to go to South Carolina, and then stopped in by my work to drop off the fundraisers Kellie had.

On my way home, I decided that since I'm already at home inside on a rainy day, it would be a perfect day for some hot tea. I excitedly stopped by a local store to pick up some tea to put in my new tea kettle that my grandma gave me for the place. I got all the way home, went to put water to boil in the tea kettle, and then realized I have no mugs. What's funny about that is that my grandma tried to give me mugs multiple times, and every time I said I didn't need them because I don't drink coffee and don't even have a coffee maker. Silly me for forgetting about my hot tea obsession in the winter months! :)

Needless to say, I sat in my apartment with tea bags waiting to be brewed all day without hot tea.

Then last night I went over to my friend Michelle's place for dinner with her kiddos and then we watched American Horror Story. I seriously love this show. It's weird, and I love weird! I then returned home to watch True Blood season 1. Michelle let me borrow it a long time ago, and it's about time that I finish it and return it.

I've done absolutely nothing but lay in bed today and catch up on reading blogs. I'm about to get up, cook myself some lunch, then get started on cleaning my room. Later today, Mom and I are going to be moving a dresser into my room, and then going to the airport to pick up Jared!!!

Tomorrow will be putting the finishing touches on making my place spotless before my Scentsy party and hanging out with my brother all day!

Sunday we'll be having a welcome home dinner for him out at my aunt's! Then next week I have a four day work week due to Veteran's Day! November is shaping up to be a FANTASTIC month!!

Thursday: This week's funday!

OKAY! I have two fun things for you today!
First off, this lady got another award! I'm super pumped! For the first time ever, I got:
THE STYLISH BLOGGER AWARD! yay!
The wonderful Kristina from a perfect dose of life so generously tagged me in this award! She is one of my newest finds from FTLOB, and I like her content a lot!
Obviously, it comes with rules. I have to give 7 facts about myself, and I have to pass it on. I don't know how many I have to pass it on to, but we'll see how generous I am at the end of this post :)

The facts:

  1. I'm a Pepper. As in, Dr. Pepper is my pop of choice. I'm not really a pop drinker, but when I'm drinking pop, DP is the way to go!
  2. I will get to cross something off of my bucket list 10 days from today :)
  3. I am the oldest of 3 children, and we are all graduating the exact. same. weekend. I'm kind of upset about it. I am graduating from the University of Oklahoma, Jared is graduating from boot camp, and Jacob is graduating from high school. Sadly I won't get to go to theirs, and they won't get to come to mine :(
  4. I own a golden lab. His name is Jax :)
  5. I love reading. I'll read just about anything. I'm really looking forward to being able to relax and read on the beach next week :)
  6. In case you haven't heard, I'm officially on spring break :) just won't be heading southeast until tomorrow!
  7. I'm a biological sister, a sorority sister, and a brother. And no I'm not crazy :)
Well there ya go. 7 facts about me, and I may have repeated some when I got my Versatile Blogger award...
I'm going to pass this blog award onto:
Danielle at Positively Postive! because she is an amazing lady :)
Jamie at The CP because it is one of my newest blog addictions.
Val at threads and thoughts and things I love because I feel like it would be a crime to not pass it onto someone stylish enough to make their own clothes!
and Shay from Laugh Until Your Cheeks Hurt because she passed along the memetastic award to me, which she re-named "The smelly armpit award." This girl seriously makes me laugh!

The other fun thing I have is Erin of My Beautiful Disaster (you remember her from Tell the World Tuesday, right?) tagged me in the handwriting meme. Here is my writin', y'all!:
The Questions:
1. What's your name/blogger name?
-Mallori---blogger name = -Mallori

2. What's your blog's url?
-http://nushkoboaiukli-chokvshweki.blogspot.com (I'm seriously thinking about buying www.aiukli.com because it is SO LONG!)

3. Write "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog."
-(Erin, this line forces you to write every letter of the alphabet...) [which is why they use it to see fonts]

4. Favorite quote?
-"The aim of life is to live, and to live means to be aware, joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware." -Henry Miller

5. Your favorite song?
-ALWAYS CHANGES! But this week, Electric Feel by MGMT [I posted it on yesterday's "What I'm Lovin' Wednesday]
--or my Mimi singing any gospel song!

7.6. Your favorite band/singers?
I hate favorites [because I can never choose one]...Aerosmith, The All-American Rejects, Ke$ha, Lifehouse, Eli Young Band, Paramore...you know, a good mix of everything!

7. Anything else you want to say?
-Apparently I can't count...I numbered the one before this "7."
-You readers are UH-MAY-ZA-ZING!
-Danielle, I promise "What's in my Backpack" is coming!

8. Tag 3 bloggers to participate:
-Kristina(? I do this when I'm not sure of something)[but now I know your name is Kristina!]-a perfect dose of life
-Mollie-OK in UK
-Jamie-The CP
(I'm not always the best at following the rules! ha!)

and apparently I just really liked Kristina and Jamie today...

Hope you had a great Thursday friends! This time tomorrow, I will be on the road to a sunny beach/beach house :)

My Saturday adventures

Today wasn't very good.

I ate pancakes for lunch/breakfast (I didn't get out of bed until noon). We all got into the car and headed toward my brother's game. Once we were about halfway there, I was super nauseus. As soon as we got to the school, I got sick.

My brother's team lost by 6. They played their hears out, and I hurt myself yelling for them. It wasn't my fault, I wish you could have understood how terrible the officiating was.

At one point, my brother got headbutted in the chest and thrown to the ground, and because he tripped a guy dribbling to the other end, they called a foul on Jake. We were in double bonus, so #12 was supposed to shoot 2 free throws. At the other end, after a commotion mid-court, #21 lined up (he's their best shooter) and took the first shot. If you do this in a game, which is cheating, the team who sent the wrong person to the line is supposed to get a technical foul and only one shot. Neither happened, they let #12 go back to the line to take two. It was awful.

That was just the big thing they had problems with.

Losing sucks, but to lose like that is 10 x worse. I felt bad for the team.

I came back home and slept for 4 hours, and now I'm eating dinner before going back to sleep.

How were your Saturday adventures friends?

No one REALLY likes sitting at home...

I think I'm trying to do too much too soon. But I promise I'm resting friends.

I'm sleeping a lot, the pain meds help that out.

But yesterday I had to go watch the baby brother play basketball. With my Christmas break being away from home, I only got to watch 2 or 3 games the entire season. And I don't get to come home very often because of money issues, and the fact that it's my senior year as well.

Since I am home and have nothing better to do, I went along with the rest of my family to watch Edith, MacKenzie, and Jacob play basketball. It's playoff season, and they're in the games to where if they lose, they're done for the season. Unfortunately, the twins (yes, Edith and MacKenzie are twins) lost their game. They should have had it, they went into the locker room at half time up by about 20 points and ended up losing by 10-11. It was sad. Kenzie and Edie came out crying, which I can understand but I also wanted them to remember that they have two more years before it is completely over.

Picture of the kids' mugs again
Jacob's team won by 8 points. They will be playing again today at 3. I want to be there for him because I wasn't there in football.

So with that being said, I will be going again today to watch the brother play basketball. I will probably be too tired again once I'm done, but at least the pain meds help me out.

And all you readers who are saying "Mal, get some rest!" I know. But I don't know what to do when I have nothing to do. I don't know how to rest 24/7. I promise though, I'm going to take the week off next week, no work out classes for me!

Plus, I want to be healthy for spring break that's coming up March 11. I've been planning on this trip for a couple years now.

If you are a storyteller, go join Lindsey's blog hop at TexaGermaNadian. I'm signed up!

I love weekends. Period.

So I have no classes on Fridays, which means I have a 3 day weekend every weekend. It's very nice for the weekends that I want to go home because I can head home on a Thursday afternoon and get to spend the entire 3 days at home.

This weekend would have been an excellent weekend to do just that. But being the good sister that I am, I made the 2 hour drive to home and back on Tuesday night so that I could make it to my baby brother's basketball senior night. I was almost in tears because I realized that my baby brother is graduating from high school this year. It just doesn't seem right.

So the trip home pretty much sucked all the money out of my bank account. Good grief I can't wait until I get my income tax return and my scholarship from the Choctaw nation. (Actually, I just checked my money account online and apparently my scholarship came in this week. So I can go pick it up Monday! YAY!)

Anyways, so because I am a lazy bum a senior and trying to get the most out of my last year as a college student, I decided that the fact that I wasn't going home wasn't going to ruin my weekend. I got some much needed rest on Thursday night/Friday morning by sleeping in. Then I got in a much needed 2 mile jog. But it killed me because I was still slightly sick. I had to stop to walk a couple of times because I just couldn't breathe.

Yesterday was baseball opening day for the Sooners. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm a sports fan. I love all sports. I love watching competitions. I love the games that the crowd really gets into. I just love it all. Naturally, I went to opening day. I got there an hour and a half before it started to watch warm ups. I watched the boys kick butt. It made me miss being a manager for the 2006 pirate team, as I became good friends with so many of those boys in that season alone, including becoming best friends with Sean. But I digress.

We left the game a little early because I was helping keep score for the OU Women's gymnastics meet, and I needed to get some grub and change into business casual attire. If you've never been to a gymnastics meet, you really should go! I enjoy watching both sexes compete, they both have good things about them that are unique.

For the men, everything is all about power. Their tumbling routines are such high flips and stuff that I am amazed every time I watch! They also have the rings and high bar events that are pretty legit on their own. You get to see 6 events within one meet. For the women, everything is done with finesse. And they have the beam, which has always been one of my favorite events. You get to see 4 events within one meet.

Then to top off my evening last night, I went out for a much needed dancing night with my best friend Jos, and we hung out with all of our guy friends too. We got dressed up and went out. I saw my supervisors there and ended up hanging out with one of them all night. I probably should have stayed with Jos because the night was supposed to be for her and I.

Today I spent the first half of the day trying to recuperate from my very late night last night, then got fed by Sam at Crossroads, a restaurant on campus. I then drug her to the women's basketball game against Texas for the "Pack the Place Pink" night. We put a beating on Texas. Which is ALWAYS awesome! (If you aren't from this area of the country, then you will have NO idea how HUGE the OU/TX rivalry is.

I finished up the written portion of my Teach for America application, and tomorrow is more sports! Baseball at 11:30 a.m. (if I don't sleep later than that), followed by bedlam (OU vs OSU) wrestling, and then I have my Teach for America phone interview around 7! Wish me luck!

tuchena.

[tuchena = 2 in Choctaw--I'm trying to use Choctaw a little more and more every day]

Tonight, I will be watching my YOUNGEST BROTHER play his final home game (of the regular season). TIME FLIES SO FAST! AHHHHhhhhh!!!!!! (mini-freak-out moment) I must say, I think my brothers are kind of studs, but I'm biased. My hometown will definitely make it to playoffs this year, they are undefeated as of right now and have 2 more games, tonight against Cascia Hall and two weeks from tonight against Blackwell. It has been a long time since my hometown has started the season off with a 7-0 record. I'm so so so so so so so so proud of them. I'm also pretty excited to be graduating (from college) at the same time one of my brothers is graduating (from high school), even if it DOES mean I spent 5 years in college.
--They say graduating college in 4 years is like leaving a party at 10:30, and since I don't show up until 11 usually, I'm golden. I don't know who "they" is but I like their style

Right now I'm just hanging around and waiting for my friend Sam to get out of class so I can drive us home to our lovely hometown, and I thought I'd give a little update :)

So I went over to the CACA house last night, and stayed there until about 12:30. Couldn't fall asleep until probably almost 4 this morning (hence the 3:30 a.m. post), and slept right through the first 45 minutes of my class.....FAILLLL. Thank goodness it's a 2 hour and 45 minute class, or else I would have missed the whole thing. Also, my professor (who is the faculty advisor for the club for my major) laughed when I told him I actually didn't go out the night before his class. He basically told me that maybe I SHOULD drink the night before classes because I don't oversleep (thanks Dr. Hofford, you're a pretty cool man with your soul patch).

After showing up to class after the break, we did a little in-class assignment that was a lot of fun. This class is Comprehensive Stress Management, and Dr. Hofford is one of the best professors I've ever had. This assignment was us explaining what our perfect day would entail.

Once class was over, I got advised for next semester (ONE CREDIT HOUR IS ALL I NEED!), went to the bursar office to find that my scholarship is STILL not in, and then came back.

This weekend is Dad's Day on campus (slash-family weekend), so I cleaned my room then got ready to go home. Mom, mom's boyfriend, and both brothers will be joining me for the game tomorrow. OH, and the brothers will be running the flag with me. Don't know what that entails? Check the picture of what we do here:
that's right, I get to help wave the 200 + pound flag during pregame. I'm actually in this picture, this was at the Cotton Bowl for OU/TX. Pretty legit huh??? I love it. I'm so excited to be doing this with my brothers, it's an experience none of us will forget.

Sam just texted me, so it's time for me to hit the road!

Have a great weekend readers! BE SAFE FOR HALLOWEEN!

And here's a picture of me and baby brother from my birthday last year :)

Saturday morning ramblings.

So last night was a good night to be at home. nothing special really happened, I just sat around lazily with the family and watched TV. my surprise was ruined....the video I said I was making for my mom for her birthday???? I slipped and told her. I knew I would. It happened because I told her I needed to get her camera from my aunt and she asked why and I said because I need to take pictures of us, but especially Jacob. then she asked why, and without thinking I said "I'm making a video of the three of us" and she assumed it was for Mother's Day. (speaking of Mother's Day, add that to my list of things that are causing me stress....I completely forgot it was coming up and don't have any idea what to get her....I'm thinking maybe a pedicure). anyways. So now she knows what it is. and that she's not getting it for mothers day *sighs* oh well.

Bobby texted me last night and said he had a 3-hour meeting with a sports agent that he's probably going to hire for next year. Exciting, yes, but man do I hate it. I'm still not ready for him to graduate and leave me, even though we're "not together" and haven't been since school started for me..(ask anyone who knows me pretty well and they will tell you he still has my heart, and that no matter how much we say we're not together we might as well be.) I'm happy for him though, it's what he wants, and me wanting him to stick around for me and not follow his dream is just selfish. I honestly do what him to chase his dreams!! I am. *smiles*

well, it's off to work today. it will be kinda slow compared to last weekend, but hey, it's still money that I love to have in my pocket =)

oh, and I can publish my best friend's news on here now that she's told everyone.....she's getting married in October 2008. exciting, but I'm not so sure about it...they've only been dating a couple months..

!!!!!!

ok..so here lately, I've just been in one of those "the whole world sucks and I'm ready for it to be over with" kind of moods..I don't know what it was about today, but I'm in a strangely happy mood. And I can't explain it.

maybe it's because I haven't skipped a class yet this week =) lol but I did sleep through two ((oooooops.)) HOWEVER I did not skip my Choctaw class at all this week [and in case you didn't know, I HATE that class!]

maybe because it has been raining all week AND I LOVE THE RAIN.

maybe because I went to Paradigm tonight.

maybe because even though my....whatever you call it...with Bobby is NOT AT ALL where I want it to be, I sat back this week and realized that that relationship is just one part of my life that kinda sucks. I love him tons, but honestly, I have a pretty amazing life, filled with some pretty amazing people =)

maybe because Bobby has taken the initiative more times this week than he has in a LONG TIME to talk to me.

MAYBE because I have the best two brothers in the whole world =)

maybe because I started the week off right by going to church with the family!

maybe because I have two little blonde girls that light up my life when they walk into the room and almost tackle me to hug me!

maybe because I'm making an A in Zoology! ((but then again I'm making a C in math =/ ))

maybe because I'm finally starting to realize that it's ok to cry and be sensitive =)

maybe because I'm finally gaining back the confidence I lost so long ago.

maybe because I've gone to the gym 3 times this week and really worked hard!

maybe because I'm getting my flirt on ;-) {{maybe because I missed FLIRTING!}}

or maybe, just maybe, it's all of these things combined =)
