Weekend Recap

So I don't know if you've checked out my corner of the blogosphere lately, but last Thursday I changed everything up. I decided that I wanted a cleaner space that was super simple, so I got rid of my background and changed up my header. I somehow deleted my signature and can't seem to get it back, something about formatting my HTML and having things all wrong. Lamesauce. However, with the new header and layout also came some new buttons. These buttons are summer friendly buttons! The old ones still work if you have them, but I just wanted to give you newer options!

Okay, on to the weekend recap.

Friday, I went out to eat with my aunt, cousins, and brothers. Once we finished lunch, I went shopping with my aunt and cousins to attempt to find some new cleats for my cousin. While we were out, I ended up finding myself some new tennis shoes. They are some pretty sweet Nikes that are black and purple. You should know by now that I love me some purple :)
That evening I went to watch my brother play in his last football game (potentially). he was selected as a Green Country All-Star. His team won the game 30-0, and he played quite a bit of defense and was on special teams.

Saturday was a forever long day. When I was at the football game on Friday night, my mom and i were talking about my upcoming final interview. She asked if I had professional clothes, and I told her what I had...she basically said it wasn't good enough, and that she wanted to take me shopping to fix this. There is a store here called NBC, and it's basically a thrift store. It's a HUGE thrift store, and anytime you want to find stuff, you have to devote at least an hour to finding things. We were there from 11 to 12:30, I found about 10 pieces of clothing, and then we left to go to my second cousin's birthday party. We were there for about an hour and then headed to my cousin Emma's softball game.
Out of the ten articles of clothing I bought, I didn't get a blazer with sleeves. Although the sleeveless looking blazer is very pretty, there is no way that is professional enough for a very important interview. So AFTER the game, my mother and I headed over to Owasso to check out TJ Maxx and Ross. We had no luck there, except buying a super thick belt for the dress that I bought at NBC. However, I did enjoy perusing through the home decor section to see what I could potentially use to decorate my hypothetical apartment :)
With no luck for suits at either TJ Maxx or Ross, we went over JC Penney (they're all in the same shopping center) to look and see if we could find something there. I SUCCESSFULLY found 3 pieces to a suit (pants, skirt, blazer), and spent about $65. This girl knows how to shop.
After the successful trip to JCP, we went back to Emma's tournament.

Sunday, I got up early to go to Emma's first game of the day, and then went and watched my cousins Edith and MacKenzie play basketball for the remainder of the day. I got to hang out with my grandma all day, and she took us out to eat dinner at a local Mexican restaurant. It was delicious.
Once I was back home, I got my car and went to visit Katy since she will be leaving for an internship on Wednesday. I took my friend Sam with me and we stayed there until midnight. We were deliriously tired by the time we left and were being completely silly.

Today, I lounged around all day and did laundry. I'm also nervously awaiting my interview tomorrow. I got a phone call on Friday afternoon to confirm what is hopefully my final interview. Interview success = first big girl job = first big girl place = Mallori is all grown up. It'll be a huge change of scenery. I'm super excited for my potential apartment! I've already made plans about all kind of things!

Here's to looking professional, rocking an interview, landing the job, and being a semi-adult :)

Have a great (short) week!

#THUNDERUP!

If you're new around here, you may not know yet that I am a sports fan (for those of you that have been around, this is no shock to you). I'm a HUGE sports fan. I like them all. There are some that I prefer over others, but if I can score free tickets to a game, you bet your ass I'm there.

I'm from Oklahoma, and we have now TWO professional sports teams. Tonight is game 3 of the NBA playoffs of the OKC Thunder (THUNDER UP!) and the Denver Nuggets. I'm just glad that the mid-season trades happened the way they did because I don't know that it would be as lopsided as it is. We're up 2-0 in the series, with the third game starting now-ish. The Spurs/Grizzlies game is still on so I can't see it.

I got to go to my girl friend from high school's son's birthday party today (did you follow that?). Lucus turned 3 back in March, and his dad just got home from Iraq (he serves in the Marine Corps). I tell ya, get a 3 year old a pinata. It was straight up comedy watching all the kids trying to break it.

Once I got back from the birthday party, we colored Easter eggs. I made a really pretty blue one with a pink tint, and I already broke it :(
I wanted to cry because I spent a lot of time on it to make sure that it was pretty! It was so sad.

Once we got done dying eggs, I spent the remainder of the evening addressing envelopes for my graduation announcements. I'm so over it already. My brother and I both graduate in 20 days (holy crap!!) and we have a lot of family members. I think I will have just my grandmother and my other brother at my graduation, but it will be all good. I'll have a nursing school graduation that the should all be able to come to :)

I'm super pumped for Monday! I get to see Ke$ha in concert in Tulsa!!! I love Ke$ha almost as much as I love sports! It'll be a bad ass concert.

I know this post is random and kind of all over the place, but that's just how my weekends are when I'm at home :)

Happy Easter everyone!

I love weekends. Period.

So I have no classes on Fridays, which means I have a 3 day weekend every weekend. It's very nice for the weekends that I want to go home because I can head home on a Thursday afternoon and get to spend the entire 3 days at home.

This weekend would have been an excellent weekend to do just that. But being the good sister that I am, I made the 2 hour drive to home and back on Tuesday night so that I could make it to my baby brother's basketball senior night. I was almost in tears because I realized that my baby brother is graduating from high school this year. It just doesn't seem right.

So the trip home pretty much sucked all the money out of my bank account. Good grief I can't wait until I get my income tax return and my scholarship from the Choctaw nation. (Actually, I just checked my money account online and apparently my scholarship came in this week. So I can go pick it up Monday! YAY!)

Anyways, so because I am a lazy bum a senior and trying to get the most out of my last year as a college student, I decided that the fact that I wasn't going home wasn't going to ruin my weekend. I got some much needed rest on Thursday night/Friday morning by sleeping in. Then I got in a much needed 2 mile jog. But it killed me because I was still slightly sick. I had to stop to walk a couple of times because I just couldn't breathe.

Yesterday was baseball opening day for the Sooners. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm a sports fan. I love all sports. I love watching competitions. I love the games that the crowd really gets into. I just love it all. Naturally, I went to opening day. I got there an hour and a half before it started to watch warm ups. I watched the boys kick butt. It made me miss being a manager for the 2006 pirate team, as I became good friends with so many of those boys in that season alone, including becoming best friends with Sean. But I digress.

We left the game a little early because I was helping keep score for the OU Women's gymnastics meet, and I needed to get some grub and change into business casual attire. If you've never been to a gymnastics meet, you really should go! I enjoy watching both sexes compete, they both have good things about them that are unique.

For the men, everything is all about power. Their tumbling routines are such high flips and stuff that I am amazed every time I watch! They also have the rings and high bar events that are pretty legit on their own. You get to see 6 events within one meet. For the women, everything is done with finesse. And they have the beam, which has always been one of my favorite events. You get to see 4 events within one meet.

Then to top off my evening last night, I went out for a much needed dancing night with my best friend Jos, and we hung out with all of our guy friends too. We got dressed up and went out. I saw my supervisors there and ended up hanging out with one of them all night. I probably should have stayed with Jos because the night was supposed to be for her and I.

Today I spent the first half of the day trying to recuperate from my very late night last night, then got fed by Sam at Crossroads, a restaurant on campus. I then drug her to the women's basketball game against Texas for the "Pack the Place Pink" night. We put a beating on Texas. Which is ALWAYS awesome! (If you aren't from this area of the country, then you will have NO idea how HUGE the OU/TX rivalry is.

I finished up the written portion of my Teach for America application, and tomorrow is more sports! Baseball at 11:30 a.m. (if I don't sleep later than that), followed by bedlam (OU vs OSU) wrestling, and then I have my Teach for America phone interview around 7! Wish me luck!

Just a Quick Update to let you know I'm still alive!

Hey guys,

Sorry I have been MIA for the past couple of days. I have been ill and yesterday got kind of bad (after I took a nap).

I am starting my first round of exams, I had a piano exam yesterday and I will have another exam today at 3 p.m.

The weekend will be nice and relaxing, and sports galore! I'm going to the baseball opening day tomorrow, followed by women's gymnastics, and then rounding out the weekend with OU/OSU bedlam wrestling.

The good news part:
So Way back in October when I first started posting consistently, I mentioned that I wanted to apply for Teach for America (I have even had discussions with some about this goal too.) I turned in my application on Feb 4, and found out this past Tuesday evening that I made it past the first round and have been invited to a phone interview! I will be doing my phone interview this Sunday, and from there I may be selected for a final in-person interview the week of spring break. So exciting!

Second, I was featured over at FTLOB on Tuesday! I was super pumped to see my header when it popped up in my google reader! (And hello to the new commenters/followers that came from there! THANK YOU!)

Third, yesterday I was featured on Scenic Glory for her "In Her Shoes" feature. I knew this one was coming, but I was anxious to see what photos she would use for my feature.

Photobucket

If you haven't checked out FTLOB or scenic glory yet, you need to! That is where I have found a majority of the people I enjoy reading and people who inspire me.

I've also met a girl who I would probably call a close friend through For The Love of Blogs as well. She's a fantastically beautiful lady.

So go check out my features, and check out the blogs themselves as well! You'll love them!

I will update more this weekend when I'm not trying to study for tests, do laundry, and overcome being sick!

Happy Thursday! It's almost the weekend!!

I Love 4 Day Weekends!

Classes got cancelled on Thursday because of the icy conditions. I already don't have classes on Fridays, so I got to enjoy a nice, relaxing 4 day weekend. I already told you of my adventures Thursday night, with me going to celebrate my last night at the old O'Connell's location. Friday, I decided that I wasn't in too much of a mood to go out. I had already volunteered to help with scoring for the women's gymnastics meet, so I had that to look forward to for Friday night. At one point in the afternoon, the roommate and I decided to go to Hobby Lobby (and I needed to go to a shop called Christmas Expressions) to pick up some crafting supplies we needed. We spent all afternoon crafting our various projects, and then went to the meet together. Upon our arrival, we got to hang out with our sister Kaitlin for a little bit longer before roommate left to visit boyfriend in Stillwater.

Yesterday (Saturday) was a fun-filled sports extravaganza! I went to the OU men's basketball game at 12:30, and they had a very fun theme. "Star Wars Day" begun with our mascots, Boomer and Sooner, dueling Darth Vader and Darth Maul in an epic light saber battle. They also had things like, Yoda Cam on the screens above. It was a fun game to be at! The men didn't play so hot, but they ended up with a 67-60 win over Colorado. Then I spent the afternoon being lazy around the house, and then went to a men's gymnastics meet at 7. I forgot how different men's gymnastics is from women's. I freaking love the High Bar, and the Floor exercise just demonstrates so much power.

Then last night, I hit up the new O'Connell's on Campus Corner (AWFUL) and then my favorite place Logan's. I went to O'Connell's for two sisters' birthdays, and then because the waitstaff at the new place is the slowest ever, I went across the street to my favorite place ever. I met up with 3 friends from APO while I brought 4 sorority sisters with me. I also ran into a lot of my friends while there. Kaitlin, Rachel, and I spent about an hour or so there dancing before we left to go to a Pike rush party. After the rush party, we hit up What-A-Burger for the deliciousness that it is at 3 a.m.

I'd say that all in all I had a pretty successful weekend!

How were your weekends friends? Anything exciting you want to share?

p.s. If you like to share your weekend in pictures, you should DEFINITELY begin participating in the photo swap. It's a lot of fun!

The Bucket List: Mallori version

Well hello there readers! Sorry for taking such a long time to update, but with the holidays, everything has been SO CRAZY. And on the eve of my trip to Phoenix, I'm preparing for my little trip and just wanted to give a quick update. I got some amazing articles of clothing, and I'm very excited to be wearing them all! I also got enough money to travel to Phoenix, with a little extra from my grandpa for drinks. I'm hoping some desert sunshine will be what I need to help me feel better (I'm still not feeling 100%). Because I will be spending all day New Years with my bestest friend Erika preparing to and cheering on the Sooners, I figured today was as good a day as any to show you all my bucket list. This is something I've been working on for a little bit, and I will be adding more to it as time progresses. But as of 12/17/2010, here is my bucket list:

  • Steal a pair of bowling shoes from a bowling alley.
  • Apply (and get into!) Nursing School.
  • Adopt children.
  • Have one dog that I nurture from the time it is a puppy to old age (unfortunately, Jax doesn't count :[ UPDATE! As of 12/26, I have found the breed I want: 1/2 Italian Greyhound, 1/2 Chihuahua...they had them at the pet stop and they were SO PRECIOUS!!!).
  • Go to a formal ball (so I can put two semesters of Ballroom Dancing to good use!).
  • Go on a vacation with friends only (road trip is the only way to go!).
  • Attend bartending school/be a bartender.
  • Take guitar lessons.
  • Take piano lessons.
  • Coach a softball and/or a basketball team.
  • See Aerosmith in concert.
  • Attend a hunters safety course/get a hunting license/go hunting.
  • Visit all 50 states.
  • Visit Washington, D.C., and all the landmarks that implies.
  • Visit New York City.
  • Go on a cruise.
  • Visit every Alpha Gamma Delta house.
  • Attend International Convention for Alpha Gam.
  • Attend National Convention for Alpha Phi Omega.
  • Visit every school in our football conference for a game (thank you nebraska and missouri for changing it from being "Visit every Big XII school for a football game").
  • Visit every Hard Rock Cafe (5 down).
  • Two words: Las. Vegas.
  • Backpack across Europe.
  • Visit Dublin, Ireland.
  • Visit Greece.
  • Visit Australia.
  • Live in London.
  • Watch the New York Yankees play a game.
  • Attend an NFL game.
  • Go to a Bedlam basketball game at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
  • Have court side season tickets to an NBA team (preferably OKC Thunder).
  • Gain enough courage to be completely honest with my feelings for other people.
  • Make a positive impact on just ONE person before I die.
As I was compiling this list, I realized that a lot of the things I want to do relate to traveling! I knew I loved to travel, but I never really realized just how much I wanted to see the world! As you can see, I've got one thing down, and I will get to cross another thing off by the time I graduate :)

I am very blessed with everything and everyone in my life. Thank you all for being a part of it!
