aiukli is a featured blogger!

Man, in my attempt to be quick yesterday, I forgot to mention that it was my 200th post. I've come a long way from what I started over 4 years ago, and I love the change that this blog has seen from when the blog first started! I love the friends that I've made (you all are amazing), and I love that you each take time out of your day to stop by and share your thoughts about my posts! I wouldn't have gotten to 200 (and one) posts without the motivation from you guys to fill you in on what's going on in my life!

On another note, I am this month's featured blogger at Legos in My Pocket!!

Legos In My Pocket

Jaimie is a wonderful new blog friend of mine, and she sent me an e-mail on Wednesday asking if I would want to be the April monthly featured blogger. (I'm assuming it was kind of a panicked e-mail, since April was so close!) I was super excited, and I believe I replied with "HECK YES I DO!" So she sent me a little questionnaire and I filled it out yesterday in my 30 minutes of downtime and then sent it back to her! The questionnaire was a fun one, and if you go check it out, you'll see some never-before-seen pictures. Well, only 2 pictures that I haven't posted here yet; but they're still never before seen to you!

I have my first ever guest post coming up on Monday! I am super excited about that as well!

What's on my agenda for today? I'm heading over to the Medeival Fair from 12:30-5:00 to do some volunteer work, then I'm going straight home for the little one's birthday party.
She is THREE in this picture, but she looks the same!
Who doesn't want to be around 10 or so 6-year-olds for their Friday night? I actually do, because I love my family to death and can't wait to celebrate her birthday!

Upon completion of her birthday party, I'm headed back to Norman for a very early wake-up to go to OU's Big Event. What's Big Event? It's OU's official day of community service. Groups form and then we go to various sites throughout Norman and Oklahoma City and do some type of service to them. I've painted schools, planted gardens, and moved mulch to the walking trail at a zoo. It's a lot of fun and you get to meet some cool people in the community. Then after Big Event, I have to quickly shower and get ready for score keeping with the NCAA Regional tournament for women's gymnastics. I have credentials and everything :)

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend ahead as well!

Quick update full of some highlights of the week.

OH. MY. GOODNESS, you guys. Aiukli is getting a lot of attention and a lot of TLC. (Okay, maybe not the TLC part.) But seriously, this little space is growing and I think it's pretty cool! The fact that so many of you have featured me (even if it's sponsor love posts!), asked me to do guest posts for you, commented on my posts, and given me awards makes my little heart happy and makes me do a happy dance in my chair as I write this.

I wish I could give more updates this week, but my schedule is super busy and adding more stuff to it every day. But here are some highlights for the week:

  • College Bowl has been a lot of fun to work! And from what I can tell, the teams are enjoying themselves as well. It's pop-culture trivia, and it has an overall theme of I <3 the 90's. We've seen teams dress as WWF All-Stars, Team Pup N' Suds, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, grunge bands, Squirtle, and the Mystery Inc. It's been so much fun to see everyone's creativity!
  • I think I did fairly well on my piano exam yesterday.
  • I taped an ankle for a midterm in my Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries class! I really liked it a lot!
  • I got to know my APO little a bit more last night, and we've planned our BIG/little date for next week :)
  • I've gotten to talk to my Alpha Gam big a lot lately, and I miss having her in my life daily.
  • My capstone project should get started next week!
  • I'm volunteering A LOT this weekend--working Medieval Fair on Friday all day pretty much, Big Event on Saturday morning, NCAA Regional Women's Gymanstics meet on Saturday.
  • I get to go home to Tulsa(-ish) and back on Friday night for Hannah's sixth birthday
And that's just the highlights!
What have you done that you're proud of this week?

This is a Tale of Yummy Fatty American Food.

Instead of boring you with the mundane details of me going to this or that sporting event, I thought instead I would share with you my love for What-A-Burger's Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit.

I knew I loved the honey butter chicken biscuits, but Saturday morning showed me (and roommate) just how much I loved these little things.

I had a pretty lazy Friday.

So I am a bum. And it's okay.

I don't have classes on Friday. I didn't get up until 9:45 this morning, I surprisingly woke up before my alarm that was set for 10.
Once I finished breakfast, I went and took a shower. I wore jeans for the first time today since my surgery! But I only wore them for about 2 hours to go to lunch with my pledge class in Alpha Gam to discuss the senior date party.. Then I took a nap. Not just a little cat nap. A TWO AND A HALF HOUR NAP. Riiiiiiiiiiidiculous. Seriously.

I love me some March Madness.

WARNING: This post is abnormally long; I felt like I had a lot to say to end the month of February. Sincerest apologies.

This lady is SO ready for March. First of all SPRING BREAK and MARCH MADNESS!! (I told you I was a sports fan.)

Also, I realized this evening that I have just kind of been going through the motions the past two months, and that's no way to take on a year that has endless potentials.
I mean, I started off great taking a road trip to Phoenix and all, but somewhere along the way I kind of got stuck in a routine. This is NOT acceptable, Miss Battiest!

So here's to March!

  • NO MORE GOING THROUGH THE ROUTINE. If you're going to do something, have a purpose for it. This includes sitting on facebook.
  • MORE COMMUNITY SERVICE! I'm in two organizations that make community service easily accessible and what do I do? NOTHING!
  • ONE BIG/little DATE WITH EACH little INDIVIDUALLY! That equates to one a weekend--yikes! Better work on #1 soon (haven't seen her since before Christmas break). (And roommate, this also means that spring break DOES NOT count.)
  • APPRECIATE YOUR WORKOUTS. No more slacking because you don't feel like it. Get your ass up and MOVE! (This past week being forced to relax has taken its toll on me. I'm dieing here!)
  • WHATEVER YOU DO NEXT YEAR, BE HAPPY WITH IT. This means being in Tulsa taking classes or being elsewhere teaching classes....ps I find out about Teach for America tomorrow...wish me luck!
Whew! Glad that's out of the way. Now on to more fun stuff :)

First off, I just want to recognize all the new readers! Within the past week, I have gained 10+ followers. *happy dance* I never really think the stuff I have to say is that interesting, but THANK YOU!

With spring break coming up, and me not getting to work out for two weeks, I did a little online retail therapy this weekend. I don't buy for myself often, but sometimes you run across deals you just can't pass up. I'm a lover of the store Vanity, and they are having a spring break special, buy one get one half off. Typically their full price stuff is a little more money than I'm willing to part with, but they have these shirts on sale! So I bought 4! They're very plain jane, but I will totally wear them this summer! It'll be a nice break from my typical t-shirts!

I also bought a very pretty necklace from this etsy shop. I was first introduced to etsy back in August or so, and in October or November I put a lot of necklaces in my "favorites." When I logged back in on Wednesday, there were only two necklaces that hadn't been sold. One of them I didn't really like, so I bought the other one. In my eyes, I was meant to have the necklace! It arrived in two days! That's right, it was in Norman before I was! Here's the necklace:
I couldn't find my camera to take a picture of it, so this is from the transaction details.
I love it. I'm so happy I didn't talk myself out of buying it.

And last but not least:
The very pretty, very funny Shay of Laugh Until Your Cheeks Hurt awarded me with this fun blog award:
I always like awards! So here are the rules:
Since I have now accepted this award (which she so fantastically named the smelly armpit award), I have to list five things about myself. However, only one of these facts will be true! The other four have a bit of truth in them, but are ultimately incorrect. Think you can guess which one is real?
This in fact, makes me a liar too Shay!

1. My favorite color is purple, my second favorite color is green.
2. I have visited 20 of the United States (including driving through them).
3. The University of Oklahoma was the only school I applied to.
4. I don't drink pop ("soda") very often, but when I do my pop of choice is Dr. Pepper.
5. I've been hospitalized twice.

Can you figure it out? I tried to make it a little difficult, and if you know me and you know the real answer don't spoil the fun for everyone else! GEEZ!

Well poo. I, like Shay, forgot to tag people in this award. Here are my 5:
1. roommate at "I Like Bread" in Mandarin (Wo xihuan mianbao.) because maybe if she gets an award she'll blog more consistently.
2. Big at 1000 Different Pieces for the same reason as roommate
3. Chrissy over at Chrissy in America because she is one of my newest addictions
4. Jamie over at The CP because she is also a newest addiction
5. And the new mommy-to-be Jessica at Happily Ever After because I just miss you and I said so.
--also, it's not required to tell why you tag people, that's just what I do because I'm cool like that.

Okay I lied, ONE MORE THING! Don't forget to check back tomorrow! I have my very first ever Tell the World Tuesday! It's a good one, and the woman who was my guinea pig is sure to make you laugh!
(Also, sorry for throwing all the links at you today. Okay now I'm really done I promise!)
