What's Your Number?, a little personal perspective.

The other morning, I woke up and switched the channel over to HBO to catch the rest of the movie "What's Your Number?"
via
Have any of you seen this movie? I first watched it last fall, and fell in love with it. Mostly because Anna Faris cracks me up like no other, and secondly because HELLO. Chris. Evans. SO attractive.

Anyways, as I was watching it, it got me thinking, why IS society obsessed with everyone's "numbers?" I am a Christian, and I don't necessarily talk about it very often, but according to my beliefs, it's supposed to be one. One person for the rest of forever. Now don't get me wrong, I wish that I could say this was true for me. Sometimes when you're young, you think you are in love and you make dumb decisions. It happens to some of the best of us.

But if you find that ONE person, that you know you should have waited for, do you even want to know his/her "number?" If it's higher than you thought it was going to be, do you all of a sudden change your mind about how you feel about that person? Do you accept it as a part of who he/she is and know that you will be their last?

And how do you keep yourself from comparing? I know that for me personally, if I knew that a man's "number" was pretty high, I would never feel like I was adequate. And I would wonder if I was just there to add to it, if he ever really saw me as his last.

To be honest, I don't usually want to know. I don't want a guy to tell me how many unless he's only telling me as a friend. I don't want to know the guy I'm interested in is 2, 3, 4 times as many as my number. I don't want to know the guy I'm interested in has zero, because then I feel like I'll never be good enough for him. I don't want to know the guy I'm interested in has a very small number because I know that he doesn't take sex lightly and that if we were to get together, it would mean a lot to him. Not that it wouldn't mean a lot to me because it does. I just don't want to hurt him.

But the question almost inevitably comes up in new relationships. How do you avoid it? You simply can't. You always wonder how you're going to measure up to this person's past. Do you lie if you're ashamed of the truth? Do you make sure you answer second to gauge the other person?

To me, I feel like the topic should be saved for a much later date. You should be together for a LONG time before sex comes up in the relationship. But it's not a perfect world, and I'm a realist.

I love the ending of this movie so much. She says "I love you 21." And as he tries to say I love you too number...., she stops him. She doesn't want to know. And sometimes, not knowing is so much better, because you get the chance to enjoy what it is, and live in the moment :)

Weekend Recap

Oh man, did I have a good weekend!

A couple weeks ago, me and the girls I work with decided to go out to dinner together. We went over to a woman's house before dinner and she made us some yummy margaritas. We then went and ate at a restaurant called Cosmo located on Brookside in Tulsa. They have the BEST bruschetta EVER. Then we all had French bread pizza, and it was delicious as well. The food was amazing, but the company was better. There were only four of us in attendance, and the four of us had a great time talking and laughing over good food and good drinks. The restaurant was a little uppity for my liking, but the food definitely made up for it.

I had to work on Saturday, and then after work I pampered myself to a mani and pedi, and then got my eyebrow waxed because I definitely looked like I had caterpillars growing on my eyebrow bones. ha ha. but seriously. It was bad. I look like a human again now.

Then I went to the reception of my good friend Heather's wedding (that's right, reception. I unfortunately missed the wedding. #FAIL) Then late that night, I met up with an old friend from high school, and stayed up way too late. I had a great time, and it was an entertaining night for me!

Sunday, I SAW HARRY POTTER 7.2 IN 3D!!! with my uncle Ed, brother Jacob, and cousin Emma. Totally worth the extra dollars to see it in 3D! It was so good!!

That evening, I went to look for a chest of drawers for my room with my mom and Mimi, and then I got to talk on the phone to Jared. He only has a few weeks left of basic, and it was nice to talk to him!

And now, the official Ke$ha meet and greet photo:
You can be jealous of this one too.
oh, and that's boything on the right, for those of you who were wanting a picture of him

I had a pretty lazy Friday.

So I am a bum. And it's okay.

I don't have classes on Friday. I didn't get up until 9:45 this morning, I surprisingly woke up before my alarm that was set for 10.
Once I finished breakfast, I went and took a shower. I wore jeans for the first time today since my surgery! But I only wore them for about 2 hours to go to lunch with my pledge class in Alpha Gam to discuss the senior date party.. Then I took a nap. Not just a little cat nap. A TWO AND A HALF HOUR NAP. Riiiiiiiiiiidiculous. Seriously.

Thursday Morning Ramblings

I woke up at 8:30 today. I don't really know why, but I woke up on my own at this time. I guess it's a good thing to prepare me for when classes start next week, seeing as my Monday/Wednesday classes start at 8 and my Tuesday/Thursday classes start at 8:30. I can't believe I am about to head back to school for what will be my final semester as a college undergrad. I never thought I'd be excited to graduate, but at this point I truly feel that it is time to move on. I've loved being a student and I've loved learning, but I'm ready to experience something else. Kind of. I'll still be taking classes and everything, but I won't be in Norman anymore. I'm sure once I'm away from it, I'll be itching to get back.

On the agenda for today:
  • I've rented Inception and Eat. Pray. Love. on amazon.com and plan on trying to watch one of them today. I rented them last week and had plenty of time to watch in Arizona, but I would have much rather spent the time playing Lego HP and such :)
  • Begin reading The Hunger Games. I'm very excited to start this trilogy!
  • It's basketball time in Oklahoma. Tonight's game: Sperry at Berryhil. I will be watching both the varsity girls and varsity boys play, cousins Edith & MacKenzie for the girls, and baby brother Jacob for the boys. (see their mugs pictured below) GOOD LUCK TONIGHT EVERYONE. I think all 3 will be starting tonight so woop woop!
I personally think I have a pretty family.
By the way, Edith is the HARDEST person to find a good photo of her mug on fb.

Things to come soon:
  • Tomorrow I am going to write a "Everything I did while on Vacation" page. Because I have more pictures I want to share :)
  • 30 Days of Truth to commence in TWO days! The list is tough, but I'm excited about it
Hope you all have an exciting Thursday planned! It's almost Friday!

It's Thirsty Thursday on FTLOB

p.s. It's also my friend Bobby's 21st birthday! Happy Birthday!
holy crap this picture is old! I had long hair, and it took me FOREVER to find this on my comp! (taken in the fall of 2008)

Hello there brain?? Ah yes, nice to have you back.

My dear friends,

As I said last night, thank you so much for bearing with me throughout the past week with both the lack of posting and the very crazy and very random few posts I did. finals week always makes me lose my mind just a little bit. Like I said before, I hate that professors give comprehensive finals and such. I feel like it's a sick joke to have students be sleep deprived.

Today I have just been letting my brain recuperate from the madness of finals. Recuperating brain entails laundry, attempting to pack, and movies. As I'm sure none of you are surprised, I watched Love Actually today. I have also watched Spiderman 1 & 2, and now I feel like I need to go buy the 3rd. I've never seen the 3rd one, and I love the first two.

I got to go out last night with one of my very dear friends Kaitlyn. She is graduating tonight and her parents came in town to help her celebrate. We went to a restaurant called Louie's, and spent the entire night eating and having a couple drinks. I'm not all that sad about her graduating because she will still be around next semester, living and working here in Norman. It's so crazy to think that in 5 months I will also be walking across a stage and get my diploma holder!

I will get to head back home tomorrow afternoon, and I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED to be around my family again! It's going to be a whole month(ish) together, and I couldn't be happier!I say month(ish) because I will get to go to the Fiesta Bowl this year, where my Sooners are taking on the University of Connecticut. I get to go spend time with my big Erika in Phoenix, since the game is in Glendale, AZ.

I know this first one "back" is soooooo random. Hopefully tomorrow I will begin to make complete sense instead of a small tiny bit of sense...

bloggers, I'm afraid I'm stuck in a horrible rut.

Ok, so I know that I don't have many followers so I'm hoping to get some random stumbles for this one. During finals week, I typically like to have a book to read for pleasure to help me keep my wits about me. I love reading for pleasure, and a lot of times this little mental escape at the end of the day just before I fall asleep is what calms me down and quiets my mental static. However, being the creature of habit that I am, I find it difficult to just pick up a random book without first hearing others' opinions on them. Currently, I am reading this book for my book report/final project in my Human Sexuality class:
Now, this book was very interesting, but it was slightly redundant in the information. I mean, how many times can an author say that girls mature so much faster than they did in the 1700's? Anyways, finals week is in two weeks, and I am afraid that if I don't find a new book that is something other than out of this series,:
this series,:or this series:
then I might possibly go stark raving mad. So I am begging you bloggers, please save my from my pre-teen novel misery and give me something that I might possibly enjoy reading during my mental health breaks. Not saying that I don't thoroughly enjoy all three of these series, but there are only so many times I can read each of these books without looking like an obsessed freak.

Another thing that I would LOVE for you to help me out with is finding where I can update my blog layout! The template I have on it now is a nice change from the boring black I had before, but I want to expand my blogging look even more. I may not have the time to completely update the layout now, but I'm open to new suggestions to tinker with it over the upcoming Christmas break.

To my fellow bloggers, I hope you have a fantastic weekend! Sit back, curl up on the couch, pop in my personal favorite Christmas movie (seen below), have a cup of hot tea (/hot cocoa/hot coffee), and ENJOY THE WEEKEND! I will try to update some more this weekend, but again, I can't really guarantee much because I will be going to the Big XII Championship tomorrow evening to watch my SOONERS take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers for what will most likely be the last Big XII Championship in history. BOOMER SOONER!

And again, pop in this favorite Christmas movie of mine and think of me when you do!:

Happy Hump Day! (better late than never)

My Wednesday was SO much better than yesterday. Your happy Mallori is back to stay! I got quite a bit done today, still need to work on a paper and an assignment for my stress class, but that WILL get done during the day tomorrow because ERIKA IS GOING TO BE HERE AT 9:45 P.M.! I'm so freaking excited, I could cry and pee my pants at the same time. We will be going to Waffle House as soon as possible, then heading to a local theater for the midnight premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1. I'm pretty freakin' pumped for tomorrow!

That's all I have for today, it's time for me to take my sore body to bed.

I'm SO over tests....

**sidenote**if you wonder why my eyes are cropped out of pictures, it's because I'm seriously debating on deleting my facebook account. They have a new facial recognition thing and it freaks me out. I feel like it's invading a lot of privacy. The only problem is that SO many people use facebook that it will be hard to find a way to keep in touch with all these people. So until I find a different social networking site, I will continue to crop photos so that I can't be connected between sites. It just weirds me out...

I had some VERY strange dreams last night. I woke up on three separate occasions to three separate dreams. I really can't remember what 2 of those three dreams were (because one was at 4 a.m., the other was when I realized class started in 40 minutes so I got up frantically), but the third one was weirdly interesting. So at roughly 8 a.m., I woke up to a dream about me getting married. If any of y'all know anything about my recent life goals, you know I'm not sure that marriage is in my future. This is for 2 reasons: 1 I am selfish and want to go live in London for a few years, but I still want to have children. I don't think that anyone will want to have children around the age of 40; 2 I don't know that anyone will really be able to handle all aspects of my personality at once :)
So anyways, I'm getting married through arranged marriage via my aunt Jessica, and my husband is from the military. I'm not exactly sure on which branch, but I'm pretty sure it was from the army. I've never met my soon-to-be-husband before my wedding day, and I briefly saw him as he was walking into the church. He was gorgeous, and so was my dress. Navy blue was one of my colors, but none of my college friends were there (which is were I was confused), and none of my high school friends had no idea that I didn't know my husband. My ring was pretty too. As I was putting on my dress, I accidentally stepped on the hem and a bunch of sequins popped off. that was when I woke up.

Anyways, aside from the strange dreams, this week marks week number SEVEN (in a row) of tests/papers. I also have a test next week too. That's right, eight straight weeks of having tests/papers. It's very annoying. I'm not used to having my tests spread out so much. I almost would prefer them all to be in one week, because now, with week seven I have ZERO motivation to study. I do have a review session tonight for the test I have tomorrow, so I will be going to that. Hopefully I'll get something out of it.

This weekend marks INITIATION for PC X, and my very first fraternity date party on Saturday (you can read about how excited I am here). Also, soul twin turns 21 this weekend, but he and I will be hanging out next weekend to celebrate. I also get initiated to Alpha Phi Omega next weekend. I'm very excited :)
That's just about everything that is somewhat exciting in my life right now. I'm going to take a nap and then get up and around and shower.

ps, I want to watch V for Vendetta tomorrow--"Remember, remember, the 5th of November" :)

"Sorry I'm late. It took me forever to get here."

Today was a pretty uneventful day. I went to almost all my classes, completed some homework, and am now attempting to study for my APO final pledge quiz that I must take tomorrow. I will be an initiated member of Alpha Phi Omega on November 14th! I'm very excited, but I'm also nervous that I will not get my service hours done. It's only 25, but I'm about 10 hours short right now. Hopefully this week I'll be able to get some more done since it is National Service Week :)

This week is all kinds of fun stuff, it is also initiation week for Panhellenic sorority. I'm so excited for Sam to become one of my sisters! I love that my fellow Sperry-ite joined and loved my house as much as I have!

After all my classes, I went on the hunt for some ears. This Saturday night is "Pike Fright," a Halloween-themed date party with Pi Kappa Alpha. I'm excited to be going to my first fraternity date party! I really didn't want to wear my flapper costume for the THIRD time, so last night, me and my g-little were brainstorming ideas for a costume, and I'm going as a panda! I'm very excited! Well, I couldn't find any ears, so I decided to make my own ears. I got crafty and made! my own panda ears! Right now, they look like mouse ears, but I'm hoping that with the entire costume, you'll be able to tell that I'm a panda. You better believe I'll be posting pictures later.

Well, I will get off here and try to continue falling asleep by studying and watching Never Been Kissed.

Good night readers :)
