Thursday Morning Ramblings

I woke up at 8:30 today. I don't really know why, but I woke up on my own at this time. I guess it's a good thing to prepare me for when classes start next week, seeing as my Monday/Wednesday classes start at 8 and my Tuesday/Thursday classes start at 8:30. I can't believe I am about to head back to school for what will be my final semester as a college undergrad. I never thought I'd be excited to graduate, but at this point I truly feel that it is time to move on. I've loved being a student and I've loved learning, but I'm ready to experience something else. Kind of. I'll still be taking classes and everything, but I won't be in Norman anymore. I'm sure once I'm away from it, I'll be itching to get back.

On the agenda for today:
  • I've rented Inception and Eat. Pray. Love. on amazon.com and plan on trying to watch one of them today. I rented them last week and had plenty of time to watch in Arizona, but I would have much rather spent the time playing Lego HP and such :)
  • Begin reading The Hunger Games. I'm very excited to start this trilogy!
  • It's basketball time in Oklahoma. Tonight's game: Sperry at Berryhil. I will be watching both the varsity girls and varsity boys play, cousins Edith & MacKenzie for the girls, and baby brother Jacob for the boys. (see their mugs pictured below) GOOD LUCK TONIGHT EVERYONE. I think all 3 will be starting tonight so woop woop!
I personally think I have a pretty family.
By the way, Edith is the HARDEST person to find a good photo of her mug on fb.

Things to come soon:
  • Tomorrow I am going to write a "Everything I did while on Vacation" page. Because I have more pictures I want to share :)
  • 30 Days of Truth to commence in TWO days! The list is tough, but I'm excited about it
Hope you all have an exciting Thursday planned! It's almost Friday!

It's Thirsty Thursday on FTLOB

p.s. It's also my friend Bobby's 21st birthday! Happy Birthday!
holy crap this picture is old! I had long hair, and it took me FOREVER to find this on my comp! (taken in the fall of 2008)

HOLY WOW! I Almost Look Like a Blog Designer!

Hello lovely readers,

So do you remember how I said in this post, this post, this post, AND this post that I wanted to change the look of my blog? (I promise it's in all of them, mentioned somewhere in the post.) Well thanks to the lovely lady named Carolynn at Makin' Cute Blogs, I'VE DONE IT! It took me three hours to get everything the way I wanted to, but it was time well spent! She has soooooo many tutorials on how to create your own custom design! A lot of her tutorials require software I don't have, but recently she posted so many tutorials on how to do everything with free web-based websites like picnik and photobucket. (I know I'm throwing a lot of links out right now, but really the only one you probably need to concern yourself with is the one for Makin' Cute Blogs.)

With that being said, I would be truly grateful if EVERYONE who visits my site gave me a little bit of feedback on it. I just want to make sure that the background design doesn't make the blog difficult to read, the post title font isn't difficult to read, etc. I'd even love to hear if you have suggestions on how to make it a little easier on the eyes. On my computer, it isn't that much of an eyesore but I don't necessarily look at my page all the time, and I want people who do look at it to be able to enjoy my little corner of the blogging world :)

Thank you in advance for your tips and suggestions! And if you don't want to leave it in a comment here, you can always e-mail me at mbattiestOKU{at}gmail{dot}com

Now it's time for bed for me, sweet dreams readers!

a little earlier than my usual time

So I decided today that I would write a little earlier than my usual time. I haven't been awake for very long, but no judging! I'm still on Christmas break so I'm allowed to sleep in until 11 if I want to! Once I got my lazy bum out of bed, I hopped in the shower and decided while I was in the shower that I was going to get a hair cut this week before I go back to school.

I called my hair lady (Amber) and they had an appointment cancellation at 1. So I got my hair cut today! Once I finished there, I headed over to my friendly neighborhood Wal-Mart to pick up a copy of The Hunger Games per recommendation from my friend Sam at Love Never Fails. She recommended the series to me, along with other books a few weeks ago when I asked for some advice on new books on this post. Even though The Hunger Games is still technically considered a pre-teen novel (I found it in the "Young Readers" section), it is nice to have a new trio of books to get excited about. Thanks for the recommendations Sam! You're a life saver!

This morning, while updating my life with everything going on in the twitter world, I was directed to a neat little article about some weird laws that I think are still in effect today. (I can't really tell if it's saying they used to be laws or not.) I especially like the law about the wildlife. So go visit koco.com's article and have a good little chuckle like I did :)

And now some photos for your viewing pleasure!
I'm not so creative at showing off my new book
The "new" hair cut, that is basically the same style as it has been for two years
The thing I love most about getting my hair cut? The hour or so I get to talk to my hairdresser and catch up on each other's lives. She's a very neat lady who has been cutting my hair since I was in the 6th grade, and I love hearing about her two children and I love her encouraging me in following my dreams!

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!
