Back in my Second Hometown

I returned to Norman yesterday afternoon. I wasn't going to come back until tonight, but a friend of mine texted me late Saturday night and told me he was throwing an MLK Jr Day party last night. Of course I wasn't going to miss out hanging with my friends, so I decided to come back earlier than my original intentions.

We started out at his house, sitting around and talking and catching up and having a few beers. One of the Aarons brought a new girl over named Amanda, and she was one of the coolest girls I've ever met! I enjoyed meeting her and I hope she comes around more!

Around 11 (it might have even been earlier than that), we all decided to go to Campus Corner here in Norman. I immediately thought of a friend of mine when I got there because she had gone to this bar for New Years Eve and has a funny story about that. Sam Bradford was also there, and one of the Chris' informed me that Gresham was there too (I never saw him). We all sat around at the table talking, laughing, and drinking more, and just enjoying the evening for what it was: The last night before classes start for a majority of us, and spending time with friends whom we haven't seen in a month.

I'm not going to lie, it was a hott mess all over the place. We definitely had a couple of DD's, and Josalyn (who didn't go to the Corner with us) even came over around 2:30 to make sure I was okay. hott mess all over the place.

Tomorrow, I begin my last semester as an undergrad in Norman. Holy crap. Kind of freaking out about it, but also nervous and excited. Tomorrow is a fairly easy day, I begin at 9:30 with my capstone class, and then I have a workout class at 1:30 followed by Freedom in Rome at 3. And then that's it for my Tuesday. My entire semester is kind of like this, so it will be a good last semester without too many papers and projects due.

Wish me luck!

Trying something a little new!

I know I don't have very many followers/readers, and that is partly because I NEVER update. I've been reading a blog lately that I stumbled upon from my best friend through twitter (everyone read it now, it's so good!: http://fairytale-beginning.blogspot.com ), and from that I decided that I wanted to be more active with my blogging.

When I first created my blog, I was frustrated with an unrequited high school love. I would sit on here day after day and complain about how much I cared for him and I felt like I wasn't getting the same kind of feelings back from him. Basically, it was unnecessary high school drama that I let follow me to college.

Since then, I have become a much more positive person in general, and I'm probably one of the happiest people you'll meet. I decided that maybe if I changed the way things looked on my page, I might actually want to blog on an almost daily basis. (I say this now, and then will probably come up with some excuse tomorrow as to why I didn't get on here.)

Please bear with me. Some things may sound so juvenile, but I still participate in juvenile activities since I'm technically not a fully responsible adult just yet and am trying to enjoy my last two semesters in college before I have to take on a little bit more responsibility.

Here's a little update on where my life is now, and where I want it to go in the near (and distant) future (in case we haven't spoken in a while):

  • I am in my second to last semester at the University of Oklahoma. I will graduate in May with a Bachelor's of Science in Health and Exercise Sciences. I've got the worst senioritis in the world
  • I am a member of two Greek organizations, one through Panhellenic Council, and the other is a co-ed service fraternity. Through these organizations, I have met some amazing people and can honestly call a bunch of them my best friends
  • I don't keep in touch with very many people from high school. When you're in college and in a college town, things are so different from friends who never had this experience. I'm not rude to them, they just don't know the every day details of my life like my friends at school do.
  • Once I graduate, I will be taking one of two, possibly three routes:
  1. I will be applying to be a leadership consultant for my Panhellenic sorority. This is a year-long commitment that I get excited about every tim I think about it!
  2. I will be going back home and taking 2-3 classes at a local community college. From there,I will apply to the OU nursing program to begin in June/July 2012. I want to go through the accelrated BSN (Bachelor's of Science in Nursing) program. [yes, I will have 2 Bachelor's degrees if I go this route.]
  3. I will be applying to Teach for America and hope I get in. From there, I will wait to see where I am sent. This would beinteresting to me because it is kind of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do good for others. I would be basically living completely on my own in a different place than where I already know. So exciting to me!
  • After all this living, I eventually would like to pack up everything and move to London for a few years. I visited London about 5 years ago, and fell in love. I can't wait to get back!
  • After London, I'd FINALLY be ready to settle down. I'm not quite sure if a marriage is in my future or not yet, but I definitely know I want to adopt children if it isn't.

All of these are pretty selfish goals, but somewhere in the past few years, I've discovered that I need to do things to make ME happy, and every single one of these would do just that. If I find someone who is fantastic enough to share these things that make me happy, then I wouldn't hesitate to get married. But until then, I don't really want to waste anyone's time.

Hope you enjoyed my first post back!

Trying out a new blog =)

ok, so I'm new to this whole thing, but I love to blog and found my old blog site boring and no one reading it. =( so I felt it was time to move on [Thank you Mel for showing me to the light!!]

anyways, so not many people know, but now that I am at college, I am having issues with a past boyfriend. I really really still care about him a lot, but sometimes his actions show me he doesn't feel the same for me. So instead of constantly causing myself heartache over and over again, I decided to slowly, but surely, make my way out of the relationship. If it's meant to be [which at this point I still hope it is] it will find its way again someday.

my strategy?? when he calls, only answer about every 3rd call. This has worked so far! [mind you, he's only called once] but I am very proud of it because I wanted to call him back immediately but let a good friend talk me out of it =)

not that I don't love the guy, but I feel that at this point I deserve something better in my life than what he is giving me. After all, I just started my new life last August!!

And quite frankly, my life is amazing.

So I'm walking straight into new dating..any takers?? lol just kidding. I already have someone in mind =)
