contrary to popular belief, this girl is a SAP

Well, I was going to have a video for you today, but for some reason Chevy hasn't uploaded the video I was going to share with you onto YouTube. So I will describe it.

Okay, so I'm pretty sure it starts off showing two young kids, two boys, and then pans to a Chevy vehicle driving up to the curb. The younger of the two kids runs to the curb, and smiles up at what I'm assuming is his father, getting out of the car fully dressed in his army garb. The little kid smiles and then salutes his dad.

I'm a sucker for any type of soldier homecoming. I know what it's like to wait at a base airport hoping to just get a glimpse of a loved one because even though he says he's going to be there, you won't believe it until you can physically see him. Naturally, I saw this commercial last night and pretty much started crying. This was after I had fixed my makeup in preparation for going out to watch last night's NBA game of Thunder (up!) vs the Mavs. [Thunder won, by the way, making the series tied at 1-1 with the next two games in OKC.] So I tried my hardest to get it locked up without ruining my makeup.

But then, THEN the stinkin' commercial decided to play DURING THE GAME. I had to turn away from the TV.

Please tell me I'm not the only person who watches a soldier's homecoming and is a crying, blubbering mess...

Update on the job hunt: I have my resume completed, thanks to some help from Erika and her "I just graduated from college and have had odd jobs" resume. I got it completed in one page, just like they tell you to do now a days. I have applied for a bank teller position, and am now looking at applying for Health and Wellness coordinators at various places around the country. That's right, country. I need to get a couple of certifications before I can even apply to some of these positions, but I think it might be something that I enjoy. I took a couple classes over it, and enjoyed them a lot. And who knows, if I get into them and like my job a lot, I may just push back nursing school for a little bit to make some money to pay off loans. I'm still going to be a nurse.

Have a good weekend!

  1. okay, if i'm thinking of the same commercial, it actually even tugs on your heartstrings a little bit MORE because the older brother teaches the younger brother how to salute before the truck pulls up! i love sibling love!

  2. I, too, am a TOTAL SAP when these commercials come on. Especially the one where they are walking through the airport and the civilians start clapping and thanking them. Oh dear lord. Bawl my stinkin eyes out. Glad it's not just me!!!

About the job- since you said COUNTRY try CO! They have TONS of opportunities and plus I move back there in July and you would have a friend! ;)

  3. ...Definitely NOT the only one. I get choked up at the "coming home" previews! So tender!

Good luck on the job hunt!

  5. I am a total sucker for those "coming home" videos too--once we were watching one at work for Veteran's Day and it took everything I had not to lose it in front of everyone!

We blame it on the leaky Irish eyes we have :)
